How a toilet flushes
No pump, no motor. Gravity and a siphon do the work. Press Flush and follow the steps.
- The handle lifts the flapper.
- Tank water rushes through the rim into the bowl.
- The bowl rises over the weir and spills into the trapway.
- The trapway fills up. A siphon starts.
- The siphon sucks the bowl empty.
- Air reaches the trap. Gurgle! The siphon breaks.
- The fill valve refills the tank. A side tube refills the bowl.

Blue = dirty water. Pale = clean water. The dye shows how much old water each flush replaces.
